Dale Ellington | Co-Founder & Installation and Flooring Consultant
Dale Ellington has been immersed in Colorado's flooring industry since 1994, earning a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, technical expertise, and an unwavering commitment to quality. He began his career as a carpet installer specializing in high-end custom mountain residences, where his attention to detail and ability to execute complex installations quickly set him apart.
As demand for his work grew, so did his business. What began as a small installation crew evolved into a large successful flooring operation serving homeowners, designers, builders, general contractors, and commercial clients throughout the region. Over the course of his career, Dale has worked on projects ranging from luxury custom homes and large-scale remodels to multifamily developments, hospitality properties, healthcare facilities, and other commercial projects.
His work has been featured in publications such as Colorado Homes & Lifestyles and Luxe Interiors + Design and has received recognition from organizations including the Parade of Homes and the Junior Design Guild.
With more than three decades of hands-on experience, Dale brings a unique perspective to flooring performance, installation practices, and project conditions. Having worked with virtually every flooring system and project type, he provides clients with practical insight grounded in real-world experience.
Today, Dale combines that experience with ongoing education, certifications, and advanced training across all major flooring categories. In 2018, he became a Certified Flooring Inspector, expanding his expertise into flooring performance evaluation and failure analysis. He believes that true expertise requires a commitment to continual learning, a philosophy that serves as the foundation of Floor Diagnostics and the trusted guidance clients rely upon to protect their flooring investments.
Nicole Sheldon | Co-Founder & Project and Flooring Consultant
Nicole Sheldon brings a unique perspective to the flooring industry, combining more than a decade of flooring experience with a background in personal and commercial insurance. Entering the industry 11 years ago without a traditional installation background, she quickly immersed herself in hands-on education, attending workshops, certification programs, and industry training to develop a comprehensive understanding of flooring materials, installation requirements, jobsite conditions, and product performance.
To further strengthen her knowledge of the construction process, Nicole earned a Bachelor of Science in Project Management. She has since estimated and helped oversee projects ranging from residential installations to large commercial developments, gaining firsthand insight into the factors that contribute to successful flooring outcomes.
Throughout her career, Nicole observed that many flooring failures stemmed from gaps in education, communication, and jobsite preparedness. Driven to better understand why failures occur and how they can be prevented, she became a Certified Flooring Inspector in 2018. Her inspection work reinforced her belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for improving the industry.
Alongside Dale, Nicole has hosted installer workshops, presented educational seminars for flooring professionals and showrooms, and worked with organizations such as CFI and NFIC to bring training and certification programs to the Denver area. She is passionate about helping installers, retailers, contractors, builders, and homeowners better understand product requirements, installation best practices, and realistic performance expectations.
Through Floor Diagnostics, Nicole combines her experience in project management, inspections, and industry education to help clients reduce risk, preserve manufacturer warranties, and support the long-term performance of their flooring systems.
